A dawn will rise: Trentino and South Tyrolean internationalists in the Spanish Civil War " is the book, written by Enzo Ianes and Lorenzo Vicentini and published by the Fondazione Museo storico del Trentino, which will be presented on Thursday 13 March at 6.00 pm in the Biblioteca del Museo storico in via Torre d 'Augusto 35 in Trento.
The volume by the researchers Ianes and Vicentini reconstructs the events of the Trentino and South Tyrolean volunteers who participated in the Spanish Civil War since the summer of 1936. Almost ninety individuals who, animated by anti-fascist and internationalist tensions, went to a "different" land from the one of origin to enlist first in the militias and later in the international brigades. Based on local, national and international sources, these characters, followed along their respective biographical trajectories,
are included in the events that saw them as protagonists, giving space to their human, political and military paths. In this way, some collective aspects of that voluntary service in arms are also explored, the first traces of which are lost, in the case of the "elderly", in the climate of the Great War to go back to the years after the Second World War.
On Thursday 13 March in Trento, the authors Enzo Ianes and Lorenzo Vicentini, in dialogue with the historian Lorenzo Gardumi, will be present to present this substantial volume which, as Enrico Acciai states in the Preface, "is exemplary because it proves capable of holding together local, national and international sources, giving rise to the only possible mix when it comes to reconstructing the events of the volunteers of Spain in a satisfactory way".
