Sustainability? It's important to us.
Our Tourist Board has embarked on an ambitious programme of sustainable management and development of the area in accordance with the international standards of the GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council), the international organisation that sets and guides standards for sustainable development in the travel and tourism sector.
This broad and ambitious vision has resulted in the recognition in 2024 of the sustainable destination certification for the area of Trento, Monte Bondone and the Piné Plateau in 2024...
...following an intensive process of developing actions and projects with the active collaboration of operators, institutions and local communities, assessed by the Italian certification body Vireo against more than 150 criteria in line with the 2030 Agenda and the 17 sustainable development goals.
Thanks to the certification also obtained by the other territories belonging to our ATA Città Laghi Altipiani - Apt Valsugana, Alpe Cimbra and Rovereto and Vallagarina - ours is now the first GSTC-certified tourist district in Italy.
The first sustainable tourism district
We can all choose to be part of a change and we want to invite our guests to discover how to contribute to this process by choosing to behave responsibly during their stay. Our region is mindful of sustainability and we want to share this value with you.
The Trento Tourism Board, together with APT Valsugana Alpe Cimbra, Rovereto and Vallagarina, the ATA Città Laghi Altipiani, is implementing a plan to increase the sustainability of tourism with the adhesion to the main sustainable practices defined by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).
With this project, the ATA has set some ambitious goals to redefine and increase the organisation of tourism with various focal points: environmental, cultural, social and economic. Reaching these goals is vital, from the inclusion of the whole region, to the sharing of these values with our guests.
