From Thursday 6 to Sunday 9 November 2025 at the Teatro Sociale in Trento.
The new Season of the Social Theatre programmed by the Centro Servizi Culturali Santa Chiara di Trento kicks off. This year, the task of inaugurating the 2025/2026 programme will fall to a face known as Alessio Boni, who, together with the actress Antonella Attili, will bring it to the stage of the Teatro Sociale Iliade. Il gioco degli dei dei, a show loosely inspired by Homer's Iliad, with the text written by Francesco Niccolini.
After The Duelists and Don Quixote, the Quadrivium - formed by Roberto Aldorasi, Alessio Boni, Francesco Niccolini and Marcello Prayer - has thus rewritten and staged the Iliad to reflect itself in the oldest myths of Western poetry and in the war of all wars.
Iliad sings of a world in which the ethics of success leave no room for justice and men decide nothing, but are acted out by the gods in a long and terrible war without winners or losers. Consciousness and choice are not yet things that concern humans.
In that archaic world dominated by force, by inescapable Fate and by capricious gods, it is not difficult to mirror ourselves and recognize our own: our lives dominated by fear, by the desire for wealth, by the obsession of the enemy, by power games and by all the destructive forces that plunge us into the irrational and make war possible.
There are all the seeds of the sunset of our West in Iliad which, as with the great poem, also contains its opposite: the responsibility and freedom to choose and to say no to horror.
The show was held on the occasion of Bergamo Brescia, Italian Capital of Culture 2023.
