Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 5:00 pm CHOPIN, THE POET OF THE PIANO Cinzia Bartoli - Piano solo
Chopin was one of the most important composers of the Romantic period: he is often referred to as the "poet of the piano", for having dedicated himself almost exclusively to the musical composition for this instrument. Endowed with early musical talent, he grew up in what was then the Duchy of Warsaw, where he had the opportunity to complete his training. Following the Russian repression of the November Uprising (1830), at the age of 20 he moved to Paris in the context of the so-called Great Polish Emigration. During the last nineteen years of his life he performed publicly only thirty times, preferring the more intimate atmosphere of the salons. He lived and maintained himself thanks to the sale of his compositions and with the teaching of the piano, for which the demand was consistent. Chopin was in friendship with Franz Liszt, who wrote the essay "Chopin" about him, and was admired by many of his contemporaries, including Robert Schumann.
Cinzia Bartoli is one of the few pianists in the world to have performed and recorded the entirety of Ravel's solo piano work for the record company CENTAUR RECORDS. He has also given concerts in the most important Italian cities (Rome, Milan, Venice, Palermo, Naples, Bologna, Parma, Reggio-Emilia, Turin, Padua, Genoa, Ancona, Florence, etc.). She frequently toured abroad and performed in 24 countries (Switzerland, Germany, France, Hungary, Romania, Poland, Greece, Albania, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, USA, Canada, Japan, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Australia, China, South Korea). He has made numerous recordings for Rai and Telemontecarlo with solo programs. She taught piano at the Conservatories of Parma and La Spezia.
Thursday, April 11, 2024 AT 5:00 p.m. AT the TIME OF ERARD Andrea Rocchi, piano - Giuliano Marco Mattioli, harp
Erard, one of the leading harp and piano builders, was active over a period of more than a century and a half. The innovations that bear his signature are still present in today's instruments, starting with the double escapement, patented in 1810 for the harp and in 1821 for the piano. Many composers who loved their creations, on which part of their production was born: one above all, Franz Liszt, who preferred them to those of the Pleyel house – adored by Chopin instead. Even the greatest harpists of the time have always chosen Erard harps.
In this musical project – soon also discographic, on original harp and piano Érard – the Duo Cordé proposes those compositions that, between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, were written and played on these instruments; maintaining an approach respectful of the performance practice of the time. The programme is accompanied by short presentations. The harp part will be performed on an original Erard harp, owned by Giuliano Marco Mattioli.
