A film evening will be held on Saturday 14 September 2024 at the Multipurpose Hall of the Municipality of Garniga Terme
In some towns of the Val di Non and the Val di Fiemme, near the border between the provinces of Trento and Bolzano, the landscape has characteristics that differentiate it from those of intensive monoculture or abandonment, present in other mountain areas.
This is due to the work of farmers and ranchers in both provinces, who create an experience of collaboration that is a source of pride for the communities to which they belong and whose socio-cultural meanings transcend regional borders.
The film re-proposes the theme of "resistance" on the highlands, in this case based on a breeding carried out with traditional systems and a mechanization still "on a human scale", which, thanks also to the richness of the mountain pastures, allow the production of a valuable cheese such as "Trentingrana". The choice of interviews with the couple is almost always appreciated. Finally, we must highlight the issue of the border that exists politically, but not in people's feelings.
Michele Trentini was born in Rovereto and graduated in sociology from the Universities of Trento and Dresden. He carries out research using the methods of ethnography and visual anthropology. In collaboration with Marco Romano, he created CHEYENNE, THIRTYYEARS OLD (2009), SMALL LAND (2012) and BORDER PEASANTS (2024).
In collaboration with Trento Film Festival 365 and the Municipality of Garniga Terme
