On the occasion of the return to the city of Trento of the remains of the Roman Villa, a house built between the first and second centuries AD, the Civic Gallery presents: Domus Contemporanea, an exhibition that stems from the idea of Vittorio Sgarbi curated by Margherita De Pilati and Andrea Viliani that will be open from Thursday 22 June to Sunday 26 November 2023 at the Civic Gallery of Trento.
On display are the works of 31 modern and contemporary authors who have looked at archaeology and ancient history: David Aaron Angeli, Rosa Barba, Francesco Barocco, Vanessa Beecroft, Carlo Belli, Luca Bertolo, Antonio Biasiucci, Bn+ BRINANOVARA, Andrea Branzi, Giuseppe Canella, Giorgio de Chirico, Patrizio Di Massimo, Mimmo Jodice, Carlo Maria Mariani, Angiolo Mazzoni, Fausto Melotti, Luigi Ontani, Mimmo Paladino, Giulio Paolini, Michele Parisi, Claudio Parmiggiani, Gianni Pettena, Salvo, Nicola Samorí, Alberto Savinio, Federico Seppi, Ettore Sottsass Jr, Francesco Vezzoli, Adolfo Wildt.
With classicism, they all entertain a dialogue based on appropriations and reinventions, tending to acquire figures and motifs from the archaeological imagination by rewriting them and, often, evoking the effect of ruins and finds.
