The new AudiPop season, curated by the Santa Chiara Cultural Services Centre, kicks off on 25 and 26 January 2025; a calendar of events for the whole family dedicated to great comedy, theatre and fun, featuring some well-known faces of theatre and entertainment.
Always a place of great events, the S. Chiara Auditorium will open its doors to the new programming on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 January with "People of easy costumes", a show that will see Flavio Insinna and Giulia Fiume on stage with a very successful text signed by the unforgettable Nino Manfredi and Nino Marino. A comedy full of accidents and misunderstandings, disasters, hilarity and melancholy, fully in tune with the image that their author has left in the memory of each of us, directed by Manfredi's own son, Luca.
Staged for the first time in 1988, with Nino Manfredi himself as the protagonist, this text is still considered one of the most striking to appear on Italian theatrical scenes in recent decades.
The protagonists of the play are Anna - stage name "Princess" - a disorderly and noisy prostitute who dreams of becoming a "carousel" and Ugo, the tenant downstairs, an intellectual who lives and writes for television and cinema but dreams of making art films.
The story kicks off the night when Ugo goes upstairs to complain to his roommate who, coming back late at night and turning on the turntable, woke him up and she, due to confusion, leaves the bathtub water tap open, irreparably flooding his apartment. Ugo will therefore be forced, also due to an eviction, to find refuge from the "Princess".
With this forced coexistence begins a confrontation/clash dotted with accidents and misunderstandings, but also a curious partnership, where each shares with the other what he has. The mutual positions are gradually softening because it becomes clear that it was not just two opposite lives that met, but above all two seemingly unattainable dreams.
