On Saturday, October 28, 2023, a free guided tour is offered at the Gianni Caproni Aeronautics Museum in Trento, specifically focused on the figure of the well-known pioneer of Trentino flight. The Fondazione Museo storico del Trentino, which has run the Gianni Caproni Aeronautical Museum since 2019, on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of this great pioneer of flight, which took place in Rome on 27 October 1957, proposes two initiatives to remember and disseminate its history: a free guided tour of the Museum and the screening of a documentary dedicated to him on digital terrestrial channel 12 are scheduled for Saturday, 28 October.
Who was Gianni Caproni
Gianni Caproni, who graduated in civil engineering in 1908, was fascinated by flying and, together with his brother Federico, started a company for the design and production of airplanes, some of which were later used during the First World War.
Since its first years of activity, Gianni Caproni and his wife Timina decided to keep some of the most important aircraft among those produced inside the workshops instead of proceeding with their disposal. Over the years, the collection has been enriched with aircraft made by other companies and a conspicuous collection of works of art. This choice, in 1929, led to the foundation of the Museum of Taliedo, in the province of Milan. Opened in 1992, the Trento headquarters houses an important collection of aircraft with some priceless pieces.
