The exhibition that traces the first century of history of the largest public park in the city of Trento, the "Gocciadoro", opens on Thursday 15 June 2023.
The appointment is at 18:00 at the park entrance in via Gocciadoro (Santa Chiara Station stop). The initiative, carried out by the Fondazione Museo storico del Trentino with the contribution of the Municipality of Trento and the collaboration of the Circoscrizione Oltrefersina, is part of the "Trentoaperta 2023" initiatives.
The history of the cities is not known only by admiring the artistic monuments and palaces.
Green spaces and public gardens are also social places, the result of the choices of administrations and citizens.
In the spring of 1923, a new park was opened to the inhabitants of Trento. The ancient vineyards that produced a wine so delicious as to recall the "drops of gold", leave room for meadows and woods to give life to what is still the largest park in the city of Trento.
During these 100 years, the park has changed along with the tastes and needs of the inhabitants, but it has never lost its vocation as a place for leisure.
The exhibition, which opens on 15 June and can be visited until 15 September and is curated by Elena Tonezzer of the Fondazione Museo storico del Trentino, traces the history of this place – the oldest buildings, the bear cage, the summer colony, the SOS Village – and its relationship with the city.
The inaugural event will be attended by Giuseppe Ferrandi, Director General of the Fondazione Museo storico del Trentino, Elisabetta Bozzarelli, Councillor for Culture, Tourism and Youth Policies of the Municipality of Trento, and Elena Tonezzer, curator of the exhibition.
To complement the exhibition, some in-depth meetings will be held on the four Wednesdays of July (the 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th). The first two will be dedicated to the history of the historical parks of Trento and the use of Trentino popular music of the time; the third will allow you to learn about the important botanical heritage of the park thanks to a guided walk; in the last meeting, on the other hand, the association "A Chiese aperte", will propose a concert. All appointments will be at 6 pm in the chapel of San Adalberto inside the park.
