Arriving on 5 October 2023 at Studio d 'Arte Raffaelli in Trento "Waiting Game", the first solo show in Italy for Izzy Barber, an American artist born in 1990, already a student and assistant of Francesco Clemente.
The peculiarity that distinguishes the artist is the courageous choice to work exclusively en plein air, to capture vivid and sincere impressions of the present.
Whether it is urban scenarios, as in the series of paintings on display "Bar", "Bus" and "Subway Station", or its evocative natural landscapes, Izzy Barber's painting follows an unmistakable line, made up of stratifications that start from instinctive and immediate brushstrokes to arrive, at every touch, at an increasingly precise definition of the environment. A careful observer of reality, Izzy Barber gives rise with her expressive methods to a kind of "post-litteram impressionism", which leads her to travel in and out of New York at all hours of the day and night. The "waiting game" is therefore created between the artist and the daily situations he chooses to represent, with works that restore the immediacy of a photograph combined with the meditation of painting.
About thirty pictorial works and about fifteen watercolours on paper, made in the last two years, are part of the "Waiting Game" set-up, part of these specifically for the exhibition.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue with text by Stefano Castelli.
