The Euterpe Mandolin Orchestra will perform in the town of Povo on Saturday, April 5, 2025

The "Euterpe" Mandolin Orchestra was founded in 1947 on the initiative of the late Giovanni Ferrari and with the participation of a few willing fans of plectrum music. It is the only plectrum orchestra of the Euregio Tirolo-Alto Adige-Trentino.
Since 1948, with its first public performance, it immediately achieved a flattering success, the first in a long series. The first conductor was Maestro Grisold, a passionate musician and pianist. He was succeeded by Maestro De Checchi, who led the club for over twentyyears and in February 1978 "passed the baton" to Maestro Giuseppe Califano. From January 1992 to January 2005, the direction of the Club was entrusted to Cav. Vincenzo Talarico.
Relevant are the participation in national and international competitions. The panorama of participation in festivals and exhibitions is even richer. The traditional summer concerts in the evocative settings of the Pavillon des Fleurs in Merano and the inner courtyard of Castel Mareccio in Bolzano in the summer have always been popular with the public.
In three quarters of a century many things have changed, but the fundamental requirement for the life of the Club remains the same: enthusiasm. Since its foundation, the Orchestra has been able to count on a very vast repertoire, ranging from classical music to that of the present day, and to those that most exquisitely connect to the mandolin instrument in common thought, that is, the Neapolitan sounds, which in recent years have been rediscovered and relaunched.
Today the orchestra is committed to fifteen mandolin and guitar enthusiasts and has in the foreground the preservation of a unique musical tradition and proposing to re-evaluate the mandolin and its music.
Since October 2004, the "School of Mandolin and Guitar" has been successfully launched.
Since 1 February 2005, the orchestra has been conducted by Ugo Orrigo.
