The event will be held in Trento on 18 February 2025, at the Autonomy Workshop.
The character of Andreas Hofer (1767-1809) has been at the centre of Tyrolean historiographical interest and imagery since the 19th century, undergoing various instrumentalisations over time. On the contrary, Michael Gaismair (1490-1532) remained for a long time in the shadows, almost the victim of a damnatio memoriae, until, in the 1970s, a renewed interest brought his figure and its historical context to light. Two often opposing personalities, which have become symbols of profoundly different collective identities.
