Telling, photographing, stopping shards of reality to bring them to the stage and being a mirror of the world in which we live has always been the purpose of the company Babilonia Teatri by Valeria Raimondi and Enrico Castellani, capable of touching on delicate issues in extreme situations with surprising sensitivity and theatrical intelligence, and winner of the Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale 2016, an award that recognizes the importance of social commitment in a theatre that becomes an instrument of inclusion.
Pinocchio. The country of toys is a show staged by Babylon in 2013 together with the Association Gli amici di Luca, which has always been linked to the House of Awakenings "Luca de Nigris" in Bologna, an innovative rehabilitation and research centre dedicated to young people and adults with coma and vegetative status. Pinocchio lives multiple metamorphoses, of many rebirths in other forms. Even those who wake up from a coma find themselves profoundly changed. Long rehabilitation times. It is difficult to get closer to the life of yesteryear. A life waiting, a life in the present, just like the theatrical action. At the heart of the show, the performers of the Company Luca's friends take possession of the entire scene and reveal some signs of that suspended passage between life and death. Real experiences. "Pinocchio" was born with them, it speaks in a funny and moving way of their passages, of their lives hanging by a thread, but also of absolute truth.
