The book reconstructs the figure of Giacomo Matteotti by inserting it into the human, social and political context of which it is an expression: a backward but fertile Polesine, in which Matteotti has lined up from the beginning to support and protect the weaker classes, starting from the peasants. The text traces the political stages of its action, from the local to the national level, highlighting the decisive contribution made to the improvement of living conditions but also and above all to the awareness of the lower classes. In parallel, a reinterpretation of the tormented history of Polesine, an area for centuries marginalised, to which Matteotti was deeply linked.
The author of the book Diego Crivellari and the researcher of the Fondazione Museo storico del Trentino Mirko Saltori will speak.
The initiative is carried out as part of the "Centenario Matteotti" and is supported by the Autonomous Province of Trento.
