Miha Krofel, a researcher at the University of Ljubljana, will be at MUSE on Wednesday 8 March at 8.45 pm to talk about his twenty-year experience in the study and conservation of these animals in the savannahs of Namibia.
Cheetahs, leopards and lions are the most iconic and fascinating felines in the world and are in danger: today these species occupy just 10% of their historical range and the population has more than halved in the last 25 years.
Miha Krofel and her international research team have been working for years in Namibia and other parts of the African continent to protect Africa's big cats: lions, leopards and cheetahs, iconic species whose survival is endangered by poaching, habitat loss and conflict with local populations.
At MUSE, after a first focus on the biological and behavioural characteristics of these species, some of the research and management projects currently underway for their conservation will be examined.
