At the beginning of the twentieth century, on an island in the Northeast, Agata gives birth to a stillborn girl, and the priest of the fishing community to which she belongs cannot baptize her. But the young woman does not accept that her daughter remains "a soul lost in limbo", she wants to recognize her identity so that she "never existed".
