On Sunday, November 26, 2023, at the Teatro Auditorium Santa Chiara in the city of Trento at 9:00 pm, Vinicio Capossela's new theatrical tour "With the keys we have" will be scheduled. The piano keys, disassembled, look like elephant toothbrushes, or meters of bricklayer wood. Deprived of their task, and of the complex of the instrument for which they are built, they become long inarticulate fingers, enamelled at the tip, sometimes white, sometimes black. Splinters of something that has broken, of a world torn apart like a device that has exploded in your hands.
With the keys we have, we let ourselves be slipped in without any bliss coming from it. But thirteen songs came, annoying and urgent. They are songs that do not escape time and that speak for themselves: they address the themes of danger and grace, which we live in a collective dimension, put on the plate and served with broken keys like cutlery. Pieces of wood and enamel that sometimes hurt, sometimes caress, sometimes scratch the back. They can be shards, knives or amulets, but that's all we have to face the monsters outside and inside us. Tackling them together is better than tackling them alone. With the keys we played to each other, we will talk and sing in the shelter of the theatres in the autumn. The urgent heart (to quote Jannacci's telegrapher) does not need masks, scenery and pretenses, it is a bare heart, an open chest X-ray. Only by recognizing our finiteness can we build on our limits of possibilities. And this is what we will try to do next autumn in theaters, declining the concept of urgency in the essentiality of music, with a training of musicians open to welcome, from city to city, the guest and with a free repertoire focused on the pivot of these thirteen songs, in a kind of all-you-can-eat canteen at which we will all eat. We strive to immerse ourselves and everything will have been a gift.
