The Vantini Chapel is one of the least known but most evocative corners of Trento, located inside the Monumental Cemetery of Trento, in the area of Trento Nord. It is a small private funeral chapel, built in the second half of the nineteenth century at the behest of the Vantini family, one of the most influential families in the city at thattime
Made in neo-Gothic style, the chapel stands out for the elegance of its architectural forms and for its decorative stone details, which recall the romantic and spiritual aesthetics typical of the nineteenth century. Inside, the chapel houses funerary monuments and tombstones of the Vantini family, often embellished with valuable sculptural decorations.
Despite its small size, the Vantini Chapel is a significant example of nineteenth-century funerary art in Trento and is an integral part of the historical and artistic itinerary of the monumental cemetery, where many illustrious figures of the city's history rest.
Today the chapel can be visited externally and, on special occasions, also internally during guided tours dedicated to discovering the historical and artistic heritage of the Trentino burial places.
