Trento hosts its first “Balloon Fest Trento”: the city sky fills with magic as hot air balloons take flight

For the first time in its history, Trento is preparing to host an event entirely dedicated to hot air balloons: the Balloon Fest Trento. On Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7, the setting of the Le Albere district and the MUSE - Museo delle Scienze will become the stage for a unique spectacle and activities, offering residents and visitors the thrill of touching the sky with their fingertips.
The event is the result of a prestigious collaboration between Kilometro Azzurro (creator of the renowned Festivolare format), MUSE, the tourism board Visit Trento, and the Municipality of Trento — a partnership that brings together science, destination promotion, and the timeless fascination of flight.
Between Science and Flight: the programme at MUSE and Le Albere
The festival will kick off on Saturday morning and feature the following events:
The thrill of flight at Parco delle Albere:
On both Saturday and Sunday (until 12:00 noon), visitors can experience tethered balloon flights. The balloons will rise above the city, offering a unique view of Trento. Tickets can be purchased on site (Adults: €10.00 | Children: €5.00). The activity is open to adults and accompanied children (not recommended for children under one year old) and is strictly subject to weather and wind conditions.
PlayMUSE: Sunday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., PlayMUSE takes over the museum with hundreds of board and role-playing games, plenty of immersive experiences and interaction, a wide variety of activities selected by target audience, theme, and duration, and with many connections to the world of science. Among the events: role-playing sessions, board games available to the public, live-action role-playing, demos and educational activities led by guests, Escape Rooms, tournaments and team activities, themed areas, spaces for free play, and much more.
And at 11:00 AM, the unveiling of the scale LEGO model of MUSE, featuring the builders and designers from Dolomites Bricks.
As is tradition, the PlayMUSE event will feature both themed areas dedicated to specific games and activities and a large free-play section where visitors can choose from numerous board games, participate in the “dice challenge,” or request a role-playing session with the game masters on hand.
Kid Pass Tour: On Sunday, June 7, MUSE will host the second stop of the Kid Pass Iconic Tour 2026, the cultural journey for families traveling across Italy from north to south with special edutainment events. The Iconic Tour is the traveling format through which Kid Pass—the go-to platform for over 680,000 Italian families—brings a full day of experiences to museums for parents and children, designed to stimulate curiosity, imagination, and new knowledge in young children.
The Grand Show: Balloon Glow
On Saturday evening, June 6, around 9:00 pm at sunset, Parco delle Albere will host the Balloon Glow: a spectacular show where, to the rhythm of music, the balloons will ignite their burners in synchrony, lighting up like giant colorful lanterns against the night sky and creating an unforgettable atmosphere. The evening will conclude around 10:00 pm (weather permitting).
Food & Relax
To complete the experience, the area around the tethered flights will feature a curated food truck zone, where visitors can enjoy a tasty break between take-offs, surrounded by the greenery of the urban district.
