From Saturday 21 February to Sunday 28 June 2026 at the Galleria Civica in Trento.
The exhibition focuses on the cultural production of Trentino in the 1980s.
Analyzed today, fortyyears later, art, architecture and design recount a decade full of contradictions, characterized by a lively and productive trans-disciplinary dialogue. The subtext of the exhibition is the cultural and social pressures that move and intersect in the city. In the 1980s, we are witnessing a profound redefinition of the relationship between image, object and space, in a climate marked by the overcoming of both conceptual and analytical practices and by the crisis of the great ideological narratives that characterized the previous decades.
On display are the works of a plurality of authors who restore the complexity of a context in full transformation. Among the artists: Sergio Bernardi, Mauro Cappelletti, Silvio Cattani, Maurizio Corradi, Elena Fia Fozzer, Annamaria Gelmi, Diego Mazzonelli, Lorenzo Menguzzato, Michelangelo Perghem Gelmi, Maurizio Postal, Paolo Tait, Rolando Trenti. On the design side, the exhibition highlights the central role of Marco Zanini from Trentino within Memphis Milan, a group that includes the most influential architects and designers of the moment; while on the architectural front, interpreting the taste and tensions of the decade, the projects of Mario Basso, Giulio Cristofolini, Sergio Giovanazzi and Gian Leo Salvotti de Bindis stand out.
