The National Historical Museum of the Alps, in collaboration with the Trentino Modeling Group for Historical Study and Research (GMT), presents the exhibition "Great battles on a small scale", an original journey through the history of the twentieth century through historical modeling.
The exhibition brings together about a hundred models including aircraft, military vehicles and figurines, made with great attention to historical reconstruction. Uniforms, equipment, vehicles, settings and scale details allow you to retrace some of the main war events of the 20th century and discover the research and documentation work that underlies historical modelling.
The exhibition unfolds through five major battles and military operations, set in different periods and contexts of contemporary history:
- The Battle of Vittorio Veneto – First World War, 1918
- Operation Overlord – Normandy, World War II, 1944
- The Battle of Khe Sanh – Vietnam War, 1968
- The Yom Kippur War – 1973
- The Gulf War – 1991
An opportunity to approach history from an original perspective and observe closely the care and precision with which historical modelling reconstructs men, means and scenarios of the past.
The exhibition and admission to the Museum will be free of charge.
