The volume "Karnyx di Sanzeno" will be presented on Thursday 16 May 2024 at the "F.A. Bonporti" Conservatory of Music in Trento. Between history, archaeology and music". The 215-page publication, edited by Ivano Ascari and Rosa Roncador, was produced as part of the "Karnyx di Sanzeno" research project, launched in 2004 by the Archaeological Heritage Office of the Autonomous Province of Trento.
Used by the Celts in battle to terrorize enemies, the karnyx is an unusual and curious tool, a war horn that ended in an animal head. Among the very few karnyx specimens found in Europe, some finds belonging to two different instruments have been found in Sanzeno, in Val di Non. Their study gave rise to an international and multidisciplinary research project that, between archaeology, music and experimentation, allowed the bronze and brass reconstructions of what is now called Karnyx of Sanzeno.
