A new appointment in Trento with the Contemporary Regional Season, the programme created in collaboration between the Santa Chiara Cultural Services Centre in Trento and the Teatro Stabile in Bolzano.
On Thursday 7 and Friday 8 March, the Catalan company El Conde de Torrefiel will take the stage at the Teatro Sociale with a dance theatre show entitled Guerrilla, with the playwright and director Tanya Beyeler and Pablo Gisbert.
A conference, a Tai-Chi lesson and an electronic music session: these are the three monumental movements that make up Guerrilla, the dance theatre show by the Catalan company El Conde de Torrefiel.
About sixty girls/ boys give life on stage to three dynamic tableaux vivant that reflect life scenes of our contemporaneity. Pictures and actions set in the near future in the city where the show is presented.
Guerrilla is a work that presents the confused and contradictory inner universe of a group of people who inhabit the same moment in time, move through the streets of the same city, share the collective consciousness of the same continent that is Europe and are affected, to a greater or lesser extent, by the same consequences. Nevertheless, they do not know how to deal with a world that has changed too much since the beginning of the 20th century and that constantly needs new rules, symbols and tools to interpret it.
On stage we see girls/boys dancing, talking and listening. Despite the title, Guerrilla does not stage an obvious conflict, but makes it clear how the battle has shifted in the minds of each of us. The projections accompanying the choreographies are based on interviews with young Italian citizens and reveal how incendiary their reflections are. In the depths of their inner spaces, where freedom is confined, an insidious vortex of thoughts stirs that wakes up every morning and falls asleep every night without ever resolving.
Guerrilla observes the tensions that stir in each of us, and transforms the three pictures of daily life into disturbing images of an anguished humanity.
