From the "Trento Aperta" calendar on the occasion of the Teatro Capovolto, on Wednesday 2 August 2023 in Piazza Cesare Battisti in the historic centre of Trento, a ska music concert will be held with the "Ska-J - Venice Goes Ska".
Ska-J is a group born in Venice in 2002 that has over 1200 concerts throughout Italy and abroad, especially in central and northern Europe. The band is presented again with the original components of the album Venice Goes Ska (KOB Records, 2003) whose release had an original impact, in the Italian and European scene, both on rising music and in jazz. The historical components are joined by keyboardist and organist Eugenio "Uge" Muner, already a companion of many performances and recordings, and a member of Puff bong, the first documented group to offer reggae music in Italy. The training, which offers its audience a wide repertoire of "played music", performed entirely live with exclusively electro-acoustic instrumentation, without the aid of electronic or recorded media, adapts to all occasions, from street parties to jazz festivals, from typically reggae reviews to performances "on the road" (in busker version) in full acoustic mode. Ska-J sing in Italian, Venetian, Spanish and English, and the tonality changes with the language. So jazz turns into blues, and then it shakes to become ska: in the same song the rhythm can change three, four times, it moves with the musicians on stage and with the audience off stage. Roy Paci at Corriere della Sera called Ska-J the best formation of skarocksteady- italian jazz while a 2009 survey by MEI (Meeting of Independent Labels), places "Santamarta" by Ska-j in eighth place among the most loved dialect songs of the last 20 years.
