Culture, exhibitions, and art / December 5, 2026 · Trento
From 5 December 2026 to 28 February 2027, the exhibition by the sculptor Walter Moroder and the painter Marta Spagnoli will be on display at the Galleria Civica in Trento.
The year of the Civic Gallery ends with the double solo exhibition by the sculptor Walter Moroder, (Ortisei, 1963) and the painter Marta Spagnoli (Verona, 1994). The red thread that unites these artists, profoundly different in language and mediality, is the deep knowledge of non-European art, which is filtered into their works by the mature mastery of the traditional techniques of Italian art, the wooden sculpture of the Gardenese school on the one hand and the timbre painting of the Venetian matrix on the other.
In Moroder's sculptures suspended times, long silences and pauses suggest a meditation on human existence, the characters seem not to belong to the real world, they have something abstract, universal. Although consistent with the fundamental choice that has always defined its language (the investigation of the human body and the articulations of form), in the artist's full maturity an unprecedented sense of restlessness emerges, the harbinger of a change.
In the paintings of Spaniards there is a permanent tension between the physical, instinctive gesture and a more contemplative dimension, committed to balancing the chromatic intensity with large areas of emptiness. It is a work made up of suggestions rather than definitions: the pictorial material allows forms to emerge during its very making, the images are not established a priori, but are revealed. A rare and precious vision in today's contemporary landscape dominated by an increasingly explicit figuration.
