The Biotopo delle Grave, not far from Lake Santa Colomba, is a rich ecosystem of flora and fauna

Not far from Lake Santa Colomba, in Civezzano in the Cembra Valley, there is the protected area of the biotope "Le Grave", protected since 1988.
It is an area where there is a curious juxtaposition between the small peat bog "le lore", which is home to rare plant and animal species, and the overlying boulder "le grave" ("grava" is the dialectal term with which it is called an expanse of stones), covered with stunted wild pines, true natural "bonsai".
The particular name of thislast elevation is linked to the fact that it is covered by a thick layer of mining debris brought to light and abandoned by ancient metal workers and, in a much more recent era, by active barite mines until the early sixties of the last century.
There is a visit route with 14 particular points of interest at which a table with a short illustrative sentence is placed.
