The territory of the Argentario Ecomuseum includes the entire Monte Calisio Plateau, a 1096-metre peak overlooking the city of Trento.

The borders are Valle del Torrente Avisio to the north, Valle del Silla with the lakes of Lases and Valle to the east, Forra del Fersina to the south and Val d 'Adige to the west. From an administrative point of view, the territory of the Ecomuseum is part of the Municipalities of Trento (Argentario and Meano districts), Civezzano, Fornace and Albiano. The main feature of the plateau is the wealth of geological formations, some of which have been recognised since antiquity as important resources for man. The same name "Argentario" was given in 1700 to indicate the mining area that extends north of the Cima del Calisio, in the heart of the Ecomuseum, rich in silver galena cultivated since the Middle Ages.

Important details:

Access to the Calisio can be from Civezzano or Martignano, continuing in the direction of Montevaccino to the Pinara area where you can park.
The 401 path to Mount Calisio starts to the right of the road and climbs steeply with numerous serpentines in the black pine forest.
Reach the 460 meters of the locality Prademala, cross the junction of the militia trail – closed due to landslides – and in about 50 minutes you will arrive at the convenient mule track of the Strada della Flora. In short, you are at the crossroads called Four Roads and the ascent becomes easier until you are led with wide hairpin bends between beeches to the town of Stoi, below the top (1040 m).
This is where the main tunnel leads to the summit (mandatory torch and helmet). However, you can also choose to climb by following the path equipped with metal cords at its steepest and most rocky point and about 5 meters long.
From Stoi you can also reach the ruins of the former fort Casara in about 20 minutes.
