The map outlines (in red) the area of the historic city centre that can only be accessed by authorised vehicles. Access is monitored 24 hours a day by a camera system, which automatically detects any unauthorised access. 

The regulations for traffic in the restricted traffic zone of the Municipality of Trento stipulate that guests of accommodation facilities in the city centre may request a temporary transit and parking permit from their hotel or B&B for the purpose of loading and unloading luggage:

"Customers may access the ZTL without authorisation and, at check-in and check-out, must provide their vehicle registration number to the reception of the accommodation facility, which will enter it into the appropriate online portal and issue a temporary permit. This temporary permit authorises the customer's vehicle to circulate in the ZTL and to park for 30 minutes in the immediate vicinity of the accommodation facility. Access and exit must be via the shortest route.
