On Saturday, September 26, the Diocesan Museum proposes a day of in-depth study dedicated to the conservation and restoration of works of art, on the occasion of the European Heritage Days, thisyear dedicated to the protection of cultural heritage. Through a tour and an activity designed for families, it will be possible to discover the main risk factors and the different forms of degradation that can affect artistic artefacts.
The day will begin with "The Invisible Enemies of Works of Art", a journey led by restorer Elisa Turani through the museum's rooms. Participants will be able to learn more about the degradation pathologies that affect the works, from the lifting of the pictorial film in paintings to the action of moisture and xylophagous agents in wooden sculptures, also understanding the role of conservative interventions in the protection of the works over time.
In the afternoon, instead, the family audience will be the protagonist with "Detective in the museum: hunting hidden dangers", a special activity dedicated to girls and boys from 6 to 11 years old. Equipped with a magnifying glass and a UV light torch, the young participants will go in search of the signs of the weather and the "enemies" that threaten the works, and then experiment in the classroom with some activities related to the delicate work of restoration and cleaning.
