A journey through five centuries of history to discover how the face of the city has changed.

Paintings, prints and photographs from the collections of the Museo Diocesano Tridentino recount the evolution of Trento from the 16th century to the mid-20th century. The works on display allow you to follow the transformations of the urban fabric, monuments and the city landscape, giving back the image of a city in constant change.

From the views taken at the time of the Council of Trent to the photographs documenting the city between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the route offers a privileged look at the history of Trent and the main events that marked its development.

The exhibition is divided into three chronological sections. The first presents paintings and prints from the 16th-18th centuries and shows the face of the city still enclosed within the medieval walls. The second is dedicated to the image of Trento between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, while the third exhibits a selection of the Museum's historical photographic collection with photographs taken between 1850 and 1945.

The exhibition section is set up in the rooms on the ground floor of Palazzo Pretorio in the absence of temporary exhibitions.
