A MTB and e-bike loop starting and ending at the Rocce Rosse parking lot (1,634 m) with two short scenic detours: the Parolet and the Giant Bench at Cima Montesel.
The loop runs almost entirely through the Viote Plain, a vast plateau at over 1,500 meters surrounded by Cima Palon and the Tre Cime del Monte Bondone on one side, and by Cornetto, Doss d’Abramo, and Cima Verde on the other: a veritable terrace overlooking the Brenta Dolomites.
The plateau is a landscape of hay meadows tended by local farmers, crisscrossed by wide, gently sloping forest roads. Along the route, you’ll encounter the Terrazza delle Stelle with its astronomical observatory, the Torbiera delle Viote, the Alpine Botanical Garden, and the Austro-Hungarian barracks.
Compared to the classic Giro delle Viote, this version starts from the Rocce Rosse parking lot and adds two short round-trip detours to two scenic viewpoints: the Parolet, overlooking the city of Trento, and the Giant Bench at Cima Montesel, with a view of the Adige Valley. The route is part of the Bondone Green Ring project.
New MTB signage featuring the ITRS (International Trail Rating System) classification has been installed along the entire loop; this system has been adopted by the Autonomous Province of Trento as the new standard for the provincial network of mountain bike trails. On each sign, a four-segment symbol immediately indicates the technical difficulty, the physical effort required, the level of risk, and the degree of isolation of the trail, to help every rider choose the route best suited to them. The color blue indicates an easy route.
Don't miss these two detours: with just a few hundred meters of extra climbing, you'll reach the two most beautiful viewpoints on the mountain—one overlooking the city from Parolet and the other overlooking the Adige Valley from the Panchina Gigante.
