The Wolf’s Waterfall is located in the area of Piazze, near the village of Varda Casei.
The legend tells that in that place, in Casei, flax was grown and processed by diverting the water from the nearby Regnana stream. The work, carried out by the local women, required them to spend most of the day outdoors, often bringing their children along.
It is said that at that time a pack of wolves lived in the area, and while the women worked, they feared the wolves might attack their children or even endanger their own lives.
The pack was led by a male called “Light Snout” and a female named “Sunbeam.”
For the safety of the area, hunters tried to kill the wolves, but Light Snout and Sunbeam managed to escape.
However, as long as the pair was still alive, people remained afraid of new attacks. So, on a night of the full moon, they decided to set an ambush.
That night, Sunbeam was killed, but Light Snout managed to flee.
It is said that, overwhelmed by grief for the loss of his companion, Light Snout threw himself from the cliff of the waterfall and died there.
From this tragic event comes the Legend of the Wolf’s Waterfall.
