There are numerous testimonies of the intense and famous mining activity (cadini, limestone, canopies) that affected the area during the Middle Ages. The old silver mines are called canopies and their name has clear similarities with the German Knappe (miner). The period of the principality of Bishop Federico Wanga (1207 – 1218) was the one of greatest splendor, also thanks to the arrival from Germany of many miners nicknamed "canopi", experts in the precious technique of silver extraction.
Pian del Gacc is equipped with two tennis courts, a playground and bowling alleys to be able to practice numerous outdoor sports.
