The Tridentine Diocesan Museum is located in Piazza Duomo, one of the most spectacular Italian squares, and is housed in the Praetorian Palace, which was formerly the residence of the prince-bishops of Trento. In its rooms it exhibits a rich heritage of art and culture ranging from the 11th to the 19th century, including the most important testimonies of the Council of Trent, rare Flemish tapestries, wooden paintings and sculptures, precious jewellery and ancient embroideries
The museum also manages the early Christian Basilica of San Vigilio, the Porta Veronensis (1st century AD), or the ancient monumental entrance to the Roman Tridentum, and the Torre Civica, which with its 45 meters high constitutes the unmistakable symbol of the city.
