The tourist tax is a levy set by the Province of Trento that guests pay when staying in the province and varies according to the type of accommodation. Many other Italian and foreign destinations also charge tourists a tourist tax.
In the territory of Trento, Monte Bondone and/or the Piné Plateau, the tax ranges from a minimum of €1.00 to a maximum of €3.00 per person per night, up to a maximum of 10 nights. The tax must be paid at the accommodation facility no later than the last day of your stay. Children under the age of 14 are exempt.
These are the amounts per person per night:
- 5-star hotels: £3.00
- 4-star superior and 4-star hotels: £2.50
- 3-star superior and 3-star hotels: £2.00
- 2-star, 1-star and unclassified establishments: £1.50
- Non-hotel establishments: £1.50

The value of the tourist tax for sustainability
The money collected from this tax finances a wide range of services that make a significant contribution to improving holidays in the Trento, Monte Bondone and Altopiano di Piné areas. But that's not all. Thanks to the tourist tax, we are able to invest significant sums in the maintenance and development of the area with:
- enhancement projects such as Hike&bike, Panoramio, Big Bench and tourist signage; accurate and timely signage allows us to inform tourists about the attitude and behaviour to adopt in nature and at cultural sites, thereby protecting the environment and biodiversity.
- the services of the Trento Guest Card;
- the production of free and sustainable information material for everyone, such as the Experience maps of the area;
- support for sustainable events that enliven the area, such as Biologica, the Trento Doc Festival and My Active Summer;
- project management and development of the city's cultural network and the surrounding area;
- strategic and sustainable planning for the future of the Trento, Monte Bondone and Altopiano di Piné areas with initiatives such as GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) certification.
