Transform travelling into an act of responsibility: reduce and dispose of waste correctly and respect the places and local communities that host you.
How? Here are some simple rules that we hear increasingly often in our daily lives. However, no matter how mundane they may seem, they have a strong impact on the wellbeing of our planet. The more informed our choices and actions can be, the greater the impact will be on our health and that of the environment. Remember… preventing is better than curing!
- Find out about the rules, calendar and collection centres in the area where you will be staying. Don't worry, you can find all this information, divided by municipality, here.
- If you are passing through or going on an excursion, remember to put some rubbish bags in your rucksack: use them and take them home with you or leave them in the first bin you find.
- Refuse to leave rubbish in the woods! Some good, simple rules for never leaving traces behind you from Trentino Tree Agreement.
- Always use the public bins you will find around the city and in the area (this also applies to cigarette butts); if you look around, you will find one sooner or later, even better if it is for recycling!
- Prevent waste production by shopping smartly and rationally according to your needs.
- Avoid buying disposable and plastic products in favour of reusable, recyclable and washable products (e.g. water bottles).
- Always choose digital over paper.
- Download Too Good To Go and help save food from shops and restaurants from its sad fate.
- Remember that with food waste, you can always opt for excellent leftover cuisine, which in many situations mirrors traditional cuisine.
- Reuse organic waste to create compost for your vegetable garden or garden.
- Give new life to clothes and accessories that you no longer use: donate them or give them a second life!
Separate waste collection
In order for the waste cycle to be virtuous and environmentally sustainable, it is essential that we all work together efficiently, bearing in mind that:
Reducing waste is better than separating it. It is necessary, for us and for the environment, to start thinking about waste at the moment of purchase: choosing products with less packaging, trying to reuse before repurchasing, opting for returnable containers or products on tap are all choices that reduce waste production.
Sorting waste properly is worthwhile. Managing waste carefully at home or at work means disposing of most of it correctly, significantly reducing the amount of non-recyclable residual waste. Our pricing system rewards those who produce less residual waste, which is why sorting waste properly is worthwhile.
What do I need to do in practice?
It's very simple: depending on the type of user, you will be provided with containers and bags of different sizes. Follow the guide to understand what belongs in each waste category and consult Dolomiti Ambiente's recycling dictionary to clear up any specific doubts.
Once you have sorted your waste, put the bins out on the dates indicated in your calendar. Remember: once the bins have been emptied, they must be brought back inside your property and not left on the street.
Anything that does not fit in the bins, such as bulky or special waste, can be taken to our Material Collection Centres.

Also remember that:
If you are just passing through, pack some bags in your suitcase or rucksack to separate your waste and take it home with you.
If you are walking around town or in the mountains and cannot find a bin immediately, do not throw your rubbish away, but put it in your pocket: you will find a bin sooner or later!
Reduce packaging and waste before you leave on your trip. For example, buy water bottles instead of plastic bottles.
If you stop for a snack or quick meal at a food shop, always choose fresh, loose products over packaged ones.
