Departure from Trento
Trento, the capital of the Autonomous Province of the same name, tells a long story of art and culture. The Cathedral of San Vigilio, dedicated to the patron saint of the city and overlooking the square with the fountain of Neptune, is surrounded by elegant frescoed buildings. Among its treasures are the majestic Castello del Buonconsiglio and the Renaissance Palazzo delle Albere.
Arrival in Bolzano
The city of Bolzano, with its history, its monuments and its culture, represents a meeting point between Italian and German languages, traditions and customs. The Duomo, an authentic Romanesque-Gothic jewel of the 11th century, characterizes the city along with other elegant buildings and arcades that extend to the medieval center, as well as the square dedicated to the poet Walther von der Vogelweide.
From 20 to 24 April 2026, the Tour will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the memorandum of understanding between Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino.
As per tradition, the last stage of the Tour of the Alps 2026 has a limited mileage – 128.6 kilometers from Trento to Bolzano – but contains everything you need to try to overturn the general classification. After just five kilometres from the start, the road soars towards Palù di Giovo, where the intermediate sprint takes place, before returning to the valley floor and climbing up the Wine Route. Once Caldaro is reached, in South Tyrol, the profile changes again with the ascent towards the village of San Nicolò, known as the Alta di Caldaro, a second category GPM (4.4 km at 6.6%).
A fast descent follows on a wide road, then a flat section that leads to the first pass on the finish line of Bolzano, with 50 kilometres to go. Once out of the city, the runners head towards San Genesio, but after the first 3.5 kilometers of ascent they turn left to face a 19-kilometer circuit to be repeated twice, characterized by the first category GPM of Montoppio (9.2 km at 6.2%). At the slope, there are three kilometres of winding ups and downs before the last stop with discounts, on the second pass to Cologna di Sopra, and the final descent, very fast, which leads to the finish line in Bolzano. Here the king of the Tour of the Alps 2026 will be crowned.
