Iconic route for the Piné Plateau, leading with a 1000 m climb to the evocative and panoramic summit of Dosso di Costalta.
Dosso di Costalta (1955 m) is an unmissable destination for visitors to the Plateau. The view from the summit overlooking Lake Serraia is splendid: you can admire the Brenta Dolomites with their entire arched eastern face, the Lagorai, and the Dolomites to the east. The hike involves a significant elevation gain and requires good technical preparation especially in some sections (there are some push-sections); much of the ascent takes place on a forest road but in the final part the route turns into a trail.
Very scenic route also doable on foot, as an alternative to the classic ascent via trail 404. The La Casara Bivouac, located about 3/4 of the way, has tables, benches, a water source, and a fire point, ideal for a well-deserved break. In favorable weather, it is possible to reach the altitude of 1955 m of Dosso di Costalta even at night.
WARNING: along the route there are SEVERAL PUSH-SECTIONS both in the final part of the ascent to Dosso di Costalta and on the return (about 200 m) from the Pompea forest road to Strada della Piazzola.
