A Day in Trento
1] Morning with a visit to Castello del Buonconsiglio
The morning begins with a visit to the majestic Castle of Buonconsiglio, one of the most fascinating monumental complexes in Trentino. Once the residence of the prince-bishops, the castle tells centuries of history through its imposing towers, elegant courtyards, and richly decorated rooms. Walking through its halls means immersing yourself in an unique atmosphere of art, power, and timeless beauty without forgetting its wide program of exhibitions and events.
2] Lunch in the city center with a visit to the historic center and cathedral
For lunch, head into the heart of Trento’s historic center, among elegant frescoed buildings, charming alleys, and lively squares (the most characteristic include Piazza Duomo, Piazza Fiera, Piazza Cesare Battisti, and Piazza Mostra). Here you can enjoy traditional Trentino dishes in welcoming restaurants, surrounded by an authentic atmosphere.
After lunch, a walk leads to the magnificent Cathedral of San Vigilio, the symbol of the city and a Romanesque-Gothic masterpiece that tells centuries of history. Beneath the cathedral, you can visit the Early Christian Basilica of San Vigilio, and just a short distance away the museum Museo Diocesano Tridentino, along with the Civic Tower and its sacred treasures.
3] Afternoon in the Albere district with a visit to MUSE
In the afternoon, discover the modern Le Albere district, an example of contemporary architecture set in green surroundings and overlooking the Adige River. With its open spaces and cycling paths, it’s the perfect place for a relaxing walk just outside the historic center.
Here you’ll find the MUSE - Museum of Sciences, designed by the renowned architect Renzo Piano: an innovative and interactive museum that takes visitors on a journey through nature, technology, and sustainability, perfect for both adults and children.
Opposite the MUSE stands the impressive Palazzo delle Albere, a 16th-century villa-fortress now used as an exhibition space.
4] Evening and dinner with a panoramic sunset in Sardagna by cable car
The evening offers one of the most evocative moments of the day. Take the cable car Trento-Sardagna up to Sardagna, a small village perched above the city.
From here, the sunset provides a spectacular view over Trento, the Adige Valley, and the surrounding mountains, making the panorama truly unforgettable. The evening ends with a relaxing dinner immersed in a peaceful and scenic atmosphere.
Note: The Sardagna cable car is part of the public transport service operated by Trentino Trasporti and is therefore free for holders of the Trentino Guest Card and Trento Guest Card.
