Easy walk through meadows and woods of the Altopiano di Piné, passing the panoramic viewpoint of Castello di Belvedere, the ancient Mas de la Purga and the Chiesetta del Grill.
This itinerary takes place around Dos de la Mot, a hill covered with alders, hazels, birches, firs and pines, until arriving at the summit of the hill, where the remains of Castel de la Mot (or Castello del Belvedere) are still visible, one of the oldest and most mysterious castles in the region.
The history of the fortress of Castel de La Mot is lost in the mists of time: well before 1160, the year it was first mentioned in a document, it was in fact a fief of the Prince Bishop of Trento. The peak of the fief’s glory was probably under Jacopino III, called Frisone, favoured by the Prince Bishop of Trento for services rendered in defense of the people of Verona. It is said that around 1280 popular anger at the constant abuses of the Castellan Jacopino erupted in his killing and that the people of Piné also razed the castle to the ground.
